A spiritual teacher who worked for peace
If you are wondering who stands behind the free meditation and the community work you see on this site, it is His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji. He founded Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS), a not-for-profit spiritual and social organisation.
His starting point was peace, and the idea that it can be known by each person directly rather than taken on trust. Everything below grew from that.
From peace work in Punjab to a worldwide organisation
In 1983 Punjab was passing through one of the hardest periods in its history. He worked there to bring peace and to rebuild understanding between faiths, through counselling, talks and meditation.
Many people joined him as volunteers, and some gave their whole lives to the work. In 1991 DJJS was registered as an international socio-spiritual organisation, with its headquarters in New Delhi. Its stated aim is world peace. Today it has around 350 centres in India and abroad.

Service beyond the meditation hall
He believed spiritual life should show up in how a society treats its people.
Against female feticide
He spoke out against the practice of ending a pregnancy because the child is a girl.
Against caste discrimination
He spoke against treating people differently by caste, and against the divide between rich and poor.
Women and the scriptures
He opposed the old restriction that kept women from reciting Vedic mantras or reading the scriptures.
Against animal sacrifice
He spoke against the offering of animals in worship.
Alongside these campaigns, DJJS runs workshops for young people and for working professionals: SAM (Self-Assessment and Management), WAY (Workshops to Awaken Youth) and PEACE (Personal Enhancement to Achieve Corporate Excellence).
It also encourages yoga and pranayam, organic farming, cattle care and Ayurveda, and runs its own Ayurvedic pharmacy. Talks, storytelling and devotional music evenings keep Indian cultural heritage alive.

Peace you can verify for yourself
DJJS teaches (Brahm Gyan) as its tradition frames it: not a belief to accept, but a direct inner experience that a perfect Master (Satguru) reveals at initiation, and that each seeker then checks for themselves.
You do not need to decide anything about this today. Read at your own pace, and keep your own faith.
Your next step
Nothing here asks you to sign up or give anything.
Why this chakra?
This page rests on the (Sahasrara), the seventh of the seven centres. In the yogic tradition it is placed at the crown of the head, pictured as a lotus of a thousand petals, and is associated with completion, union and the unbroken line of teaching.
Reverence is the mood the tradition links with the crown, the centre of completion and union. This page introduces His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji and the work he began; slow rays of light are an illustration, not a picture of anyone.
This is how the yogic tradition describes the centres; it is a map for reflection, not a scientific or medical claim.
